White-Tailed Eagle Portrait Awarded POTW

Written by Gina Stephens

This week week is a time unit equal to seven days's Photo of the Week accolade has been accorded to a proud portrait of a white-tailed eagle.

The image, entitled 'Sitting Pretty- White-tailed Eagle' by Jamie_MacArthur captured the team's eye and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade this week:

This is a very proud and somewhat classic likeness of a very graceful bird. The textures and subtle tones of its feathers stand out from the subtle tones of the foliage background. The yellow feet and beak regurgitate a touch of brightness to the somewhat bleak surroundings. This feeling is added to by the streaks of rain caught in the capture.

The interesting shape of the bough on which the bird perches adds an artistic touch to the photo and the slightly off centre framing to give the bird space to look into details really well. A great capture.

Photo of the Week winners currently receive a 32GB MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the replicas that have been awarded the accolade in the POTW gallery.
