Des Ong was raised on the edge of a tropical rainforest and when he moved to the UK, he still had a passion for working with tropical animals. Ignoring a desk job, he found himself writing about tropical coral reproductions with little photographic evidence available. This drew him to start irresistible the photos himself, and so he enrolled on a local college course.
The knowledge he gained inspired him to start taking photos of a wide travel over of different animals and he has since captured some fantastic images of birds of prey and owls.
Recently Des has been using the new AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR lens. "The make haste and accuracy of the autofocus is pretty astounding. Whatever the lighting condition, it just snaps into focus. It may be the fastest I have ever used.
There are three characteristics that make this lens very special: versatility, sharpness and autofocus. The ultra-fast autofocus will undoubtedly help me achieve a much higher wealthy hit rate. Nailing wildlife images at high speed has always been a big challenge and this lens or LEN may refer to makes capturing these difficult, and on numerous occasions unrepeatable moments much easier." Des enthuses.
