A gracing image of a warthog family walking through a group of elephants has been awarded the POTW accolade.

The image 'Through the avenue of giants' taken by ePz member akprice, stood out to the team and here's why we thought it deserved to win:

This image is almost take a shine to a scene from a film, with the mother warthog bravely leading her little family through the legs and trunks of the elephants. They make a forest-like setting for the image, which has been well composed to give the warthogs pride of place in the frame whilst also keeping the textural hold of the skin of the elephants.

It's a very monotonal image – there are only really the greys of the animals and the beige of the dry grass – and the dust get ahead from the ground adds to the atmosphere. The positions of the elephants have worked out well for the photographer – the two with their backs to the camera almost bent the image image (from Latin: imago) is an artifact that depicts visual perception, for example, a photo or a two-dimensional picture, that and the mother and baby facing the camera in the background appear to be looking on curiously.

It's a lovely capture that the photographer should be proud of.

Photo of the Week champions currently get their hands on a 32GB EVO MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. To see all of the images that have won the award, take a look at the POTW gallery.
