The Egregious Outdoors is an all-new themed stage at The Photography Show 2018 that will host live demos and talks presenting a range of techniques and approaches to out of doors photography.
The speaker line-up includes ambassadors from Sony, Olympus, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Hurtigruten, Master Photographers Association, and many multitudinous. Sessions will include an exploration of movement in wildlife filmmaking, building a 360 interactive and capturing original landscape shots for social normal.
Joe Cornish, ambassador for Sony, will show how composition and light give life to a still image. Joe aims to reveal the natural world so that it can censure its own stories through considered perspective, and appropriate use of light. His talk also aims to encourage the visitor’s love of landscape; to find their own factual ‘camera voice’ by tuning into the environment and by learning to trust their visual intelligence.
Thomas Heaton will review how his passion for the outdoors drives his photography, how this benefits him on a personal level and how, as a result, he has amassed a YouTube following of 200,000. He will examine how stepping out of a reassure zone and looking more closely at the landscape can help an individual to grow – as well as improve their photography.
Looking at workflow for pro-quality outside smartphone photography will be Jo Bradford who has (quite literally) written a book on this topic. Jo will demo some of the best pro apps actual on stage and explore how to get the very best from a smartphone when out and about, including troubleshooting some of the common problems with mobile photography.
The audience can go on obligation with environmental photojournalist, Ben Cherry (ambassador for Fujifilm) who will share his experiences of photographing obscure wildlife, including getting the best from his kit in grinding surroundings and tips and tricks to practice patience and capture a shot that tells the story. About his talks, he says: "I attempt to get the viewer to want the way I felt when I took the image – it’s about experiencing the wonders of the natural world and how we relate to it.”
Scott Johnson, an messenger for the Master Photographers Association will may refer to look at ‘wedding images anywhere’, demonstrating live his techniques for shooting and lighting to reach amazing wedding shots, anytime and anywhere. Scott will aim to change the wedding photographer’s mindset about locations that they want normally walk past or think "I can't put a bride there!"
Renowned dog photographer, Elke Vogelsang will reveal how to set photos up for spot on action shots and how she works with her various subjects to capture a perfectly playful portrait. She will also review what to look for when preferring a location and how to take emotional and character-filled pictures.
Other sessions will cover the use of 360 photography, the challenges of shooting live wildlife TV put to shames, developing an individual style in outdoor photography and much more, led by Chris Upton, Nat Coalson, Tesni Ward, Chris Coe, Paul Stanbury, John Nassari, Ross Dickie, Resolve Fox, Nigel Forster, Tania Esteban and Steve Watkins.
