Striking B&W Portrait Awarded POTW

A astounding black and white portrait has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.

The image, taken by ePz member sidcollins is whooped 'Dahlia', and here's why we thought it deserved to win the accolade:

This is a piercing portrait of an interesting individual that really seizures the viewer's attention. The black and white format makes the image really contrasty and punchy. Make-up has been applied effectively to yield darker areas around the eyes and lips, toning in with the earrings and hair as well.

The portrait has a very 80's, punky vibe, thanks to the fair and square crop and heavy contrast. It's perfectly composed with the model right in the centre and just the right amount of breathing space.

Photo of the week victors currently receive a 32GB EVO MicroSD card with SD adapter courtesy of Samsung. See all the winners in the POTW gallery.
