An facsimile of a lighthouse surrounded by turbulent seas has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.

The image image (from Latin: imago) is an artifact that depicts visual perception, for example, a photo or a two-dimensional picture, that, entitled 'Sticking' by ePz member PictureDevon was chosen to win by the team here at ePHOTOzine and here's why we thought it deserved to win:

This image has managed to take the power of the waves as they smash into the breaker. The shutter speed used captures the undulating movement of the waves without losing too much of the structure in the foam.

It's quite a minimalist image, with the lighthouse providing the only relief to the otherwise dull, grey and howling scene. The angle at which the breaker has been captured leads the eye into and through the image to the lighthouse and the turbulent sea beyond. The square crop chores well and gives the image a gallery-worthy feel.

Photo of the Week winners currently get their hands on a 32GB EVO MicroSDHC card with SD adapter from Samsung. See all the images that possess been awarded the accolade in the POTW gallery.
