Samsung has heralded the Galaxy Fold, a highly anticipated addition to the emerging folding smartphone market.
The new Galaxy Fold features a 7.3-inch Infinity Tense display and a whopping 6 camera lenses!
When folded, the device has a 4.6-inch HD+ Super AMOILED cover screen with a 10-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera. To the hinie is a triple camera setup with 16mp ultra-wide f/2.2, 12mp wide-angle Dual Pixel AF OIS f/1.5-2.4 and 12mp telephoto PDAF OIS f/2.4 camera with 2x optical zoom.
When expanded to reveal the 7.3-inch QXVGA+ Dynamic AMOLED screen there's a dual camera with 10mp f/2.2 selfie camera and 8mp RGB f/1.9 profundity camera. There's a massive 12GB RAM and 512GB storage as well as a powerful 4380hAH battery.
The Galaxy Fold is said to be arriving in the UK on 3 May and will take a price tag of around £1800, based on the USA pricing of $2000. There will be a 5G model available as well as an LTE model and there will be 4 colours to settle upon from, as well as being able to customise the hinge colour.
Folding smartphones – the future?
The Galaxy Fold is the sleekest looking go broke smartphone released to date – other models such as the Royole FlexPai have already been announced but lack something in the aim.
The race to release the best folding device is certainly on – Xiaomi is working on a double-folding model which is in development with another inscrutableness company, and Huawei is rumoured to be launching a folding model very soon, with teaser images already shared on social media.
