Nik Collection 2018 Released By DxO Brings Stability To The Popular Plug-Ins & It Works With The Latest Operating Systems

Behindhand in 2017, DxO has announced the acquisition of the Nik Collection software from Google and today, the company has released the first version of the plugin solicitation under its new 'by DxO' heading. 

Nik Collection 2018 by DxO is, most importantly, now stable, offers improved usability and gives customers certify (when/if needed). You do, now, have to pay for it but before Google stopped supporting the plug-in collection, they also charged as did Nik software before they sold the commodity to Google back in 2012 so it's not something new, plus it means the collection will continue to be updated and improved as a result. 

Commenting on the operate DxO has done on the Nik Collection since last October, Bruno Sayakhom, Product Owner at DxO, said: "The process was long and complex. It was necessary to get well and recompile source code that had not been maintained for a long time in order to make it compatible with the latest versions of Adobe outcomes and the latest Apple OS updates. This is a first step that allows us to start afresh."

The Nik Collection 2018 by DxO is now fully functional and compatible with all 64-bit Windows and Mac podia, as well as with Adobe Lightroom Classic CC, Photoshop CC 2018, and Photoshop Elements 2017/2018. In addition, DxO now provides support in four languages on its website and tutorials choose soon be available on there, too. 

 

 

Jean-Marc Alexia, DxO’s VP of Product Strategy and Marketing has also said that they settle upon continue to talk to the Nik Collection community to gather feedback and to see what they expect from the plug-in collection.

For those who haven't inured to the Nik Collection before, it includes 7 plug-ins which can be applied locally to specific areas: 

  • Analog Efex Pro applies analogue film, camera and lens simulations to digital photos.
  • Color Efex Pro contains a set of filters for colour correction, touch-up, and creative effects.
  • Dfine reduces the noise of digital images by analysing the specificities of each device.
  • HDR Efex Pro processes archetypes in HDR.
  • Sharpener Pro increases the accuracy and enhances the detail of digital images.
  • Silver Efex Pro is a black and white image conversion solution inspired by darkroom techniques.
  • Viveza locally rearranges the colour and tone of specific areas of the image.

The Nik Collection 2018 by DxO is available for download on the DxO website, subscription free, now for £39.99 until 1 July 2018. After this season, the price will go up to £59.
