New Sigma FF Lens Range For Sony, 105mm & 70mm Art Optics Announced

Written by Gina Stephens

Sigma keep announced a new range of 7 interchangeable lenses for Sony Full Frame E-Mount cameras as well as 2 new Art optics and a firmware update for Canon fit lenses at CP+. Earlier this month Sigma declared a new 14-24mm Art lens.

7 new Sigma Full Frame lenses for Sony E-Mount

Sigma will gradually introduce the lenses as members of the Art line, which put on the markets photographers the highest level of optical performance.

While offering the same high-performance optical design as other lenses in the Art line, the new Sony E-mount mannequins will feature a newly developed control algorithm that optimises the autofocus drive and maximises the data transmission speed. In addition, these lenses longing be compatible with Sony’s Continuous AF (AF-C) and high-speed autofocus, which are not addressed by SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11. Like the converter MC-11, the lenses commitment be compatible with in-camera image stabilisation and in-camera lens aberration correction, which includes corrections for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion.

The lineup intention include the Art line set of seven prime lenses covering 14mm to 135mm.

New 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

The longest focal length in the Art range's f/1.4 lenses, Sigma have in the offing dubbed this lens the 'Bokeh master'.

In order to combine outstanding wide-aperture, mid-telephoto performance with F1.4 brightness at top aperture, this lens incorporates 17 optical elements in 12 groups—an uncommonly large number of elements for a prime lens.

With its chunky filter diameter of 105mm, the SIGMA 105mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art delivers a significantly greater volume of peripheral light than other lenses in its taste. Minimizing vignetting while offering a beautiful bokeh effect, this lens is ideal for portrait photography.

The lens is dust and commotion proof. No pricing or release dates have been announced as yet.

New 70mm f/2.8 DG macro Art

The first macro lens in the Art line, and long-awaited by Sigma nuts, this lens prioritses optical performance over autofocus speed.

In the standard to mid-telephoto range, it delivers stunning resolution and incredible pellucidity that greatly exceed expectations for a macro lens. The coreless DC motor further enhances image quality, while an optimised algorithm labourers offer extremely smooth autofocus performance for a weightier, high-performance lens.

The focus-by-wire system eliminates the direct mechanical connection between the pinpoint ring and the focus drive system. Controlled by SIGMA’s latest algorithm, a newly developed coreless DC motor adjusts focus with optimal boost and low noise. Full-time manual focus is available even during autofocus, allowing the photographer to make minute focus adjustments simply by turning the core ring.

The lens has a dust and splash proof design and pricing and availability is yet to be announced.

Firmware update for Canon cameras with lens aberration rectification

The three types of corrective functions available are for peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, and distortion.

By updating their lens or LEN may refer to firmware to version 2.00, fellows with compatible SGV interchangeable lenses for Canon cameras can perform aberration corrections that match the optical characteristics of their lenses. In counting up, by turning Lens Aberration Correction on and before taking photographs, users can prevent certain image and operation errors from occurring.

Canon Lens Aberration Reparation is available with the following combination of SIGMA interchangeable Canon mount lenses and Canon cameras.
