A wonderfully full close-up of a long-tailed tit has been awarded the Photo of the Week accolade this week.

The image, titled 'Long-Tailed Tit' by ePz colleague BydoR9 stood out to the team the week week is a time unit equal to seven days, and here's why we thought it deserved to win:

This is a well-framed image of this shy bird, caught in a terrific pose too! The red crest above the eye draws the viewer's gaze to this fine specimen, with the subtle browns and peachy tones of the superficial feathers further adding a splash of colour.

These birds move very quickly so to capture one in a flattering pose like this and retain it all sharp from the beak to the tail is really something. The grey tones of the background blur also work to enhance the red shades of the bird.

POTW title-holders currently receive a 64GB EVO MicroSDXC memory card courtesy of Samsung. See all the winners of the accolade in the POTW gallery.
